InfoRSS Review - Is InfoRSS Right For You?
Many different RSS aggregators exist, from web-based offerings (like Netvibes) that require no software installation and can be used from any browser to full-featured desktop programs like FeedDemon. If you're looking for a lightweight program to keep tabs on your favorite news feeds without taking up too much of your computer's memory, infoRSS could be worth checking out.
InfoRSS appears as a small ticker tape that's displayed either in your status bar or in a separate bar at the top or bottom of the screen. This unobtrusive program comes with a large amount of configuration options that let you mold it to your own tastes. The more complex settings, however, can be a bit overwhelming for users who may not know what they're doing.
The application lets you configure how many new items infoRSS should display at a time and how often it should refresh the current feed. It also offers options for creating filters to view articles matching specific criteria. For more advanced users, the Options tab includes a Synchronization section that allows you to synchronize your data between multiple computers.
This utility can be a useful addition to any system that uses RSS for headlines, but it may not appeal to users who prefer a more traditional reading experience. It's lightweight, unobtrusive and loaded with a lot of features, but it can also be a little intimidating for novices who aren't familiar with all the options. Still, if you're willing to put in the effort to get to know it, this is a great option for those who want to read RSS updates quickly and easily.
